10月21日 Charity Summit
Justice Before Charity Summit was held this past weekend, October 18/08 in Moncton NB to coincide with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Many people from around the province were in Moncton to speak on the programs in place that will help bring about the elimination of poverty in the province of NB. "In alot of cases poverty is hidden" stated Deputy Mayor Pierre Boudreau, while recounting stories of his past experiences. The remedy starts in your neighbourhood. There are many charities that can use your support of time and effort. We are entering the hardest season for some here in Canada where the harsh winters eat up money used on heating homes leaving little for groceries or the coming Christmas season. Giving should be a year long event, not just during the Christmas season. Find a local charity, foodbank, or family that could use your support and give anyway you can through donations of food, time, clothing, or money. Every little bit brings hope and happiness to a family in need. To check out the many charity organizations in the Moncton area you can attend the first Volunteer Expo and Conference to take place at The Moncton Coliseum October 24-25. It is free of charge to the general public and is expected to attract more than 100 exhibitors. Attendees can take advantage of the free transportation by boarding any Codiac Bus and telling the driver you are attending "Hands Up". Talking about Britain releases latest batch of UFO files
10月11日 Happy Thanksgiving Canada!Another Thanksgiving weekend is upon us and it is the time for family and friends to get together to celebrate happy times with good food. I am lucky enough to have a good bunch to celebrate with, my children and extended family. We will be chatting about the latest trends and family gossip while we eat our turkey with the many fixings' along with my favourite; desert! When I get together with family I always feel much gratitude for how we have grown as a family. We might not see each other as often as we'd like but we do stay in touch by phone or email and we know if the chips were down someone would come running, lending a helping hand. I want to thank all my family and my extended family for always being there for me. I have become sort of a loner and more intense over the years but they put up with me anyway which is what families are suppose to do. Acceptance and unconditional love comes mostly from those closest to us or of blood relation. I want to thank all my online friends and all the wonderful marketing people I have met over the years for giving me the encouragement to stick with my dream of an online business. I have learned alot and met wonderful people. I do hope to meet some in person over the next year or so and I plan to redo my website and add two of my own products (while working full time...whew) if my health permits. I also want to thank the wonderful people I have met at The Moncton Hospital. They are the best bunch to work for and always have a kind word of encouragement for me. I also want to thank my children and grandchildren for being the inspiration in my life. I would not be as grounded if it wasn't for them. I tend to be a bit of a rolling stone, moving often and changing careers but I am learning the importance of sticking with things until the harvest. They are the ones who give me hope for the future. Even though I tend to like the warmer weather, I love this time of year for the celebrations that come our way. I look forward to Halloween and then Christmas as we can feel the joy of giving through the expressions on the children's faces as well as the adults. I hope you also remember this is the season of charity and there are many people who need our help as the winter months set in. Please remember your local foodbanks and give generously! And if you are reading this I want to give thanks to you too. Happy Thanksgiving! 10月1日 Look great and feel great while changing the lives of women and girls!Look great and feel great while changing the lives of women and girls! The Canadian Women's Foundation is delighted to announce a special fall promotion that will have you looking great and feeling great, while transforming the lives of women and girls across Canada! Introducing Lauren Hutton's Face Disc, a new makeup and color-coded application system designed especially for women over 35. A word from Lauren Hutton... "Most makeup contains too much pigment, fillers, shiny mica and glitter that settles into fine lines, making women look older. My makeup is different. I've taken out all those aging ingredients and created a makeup that is sheer and lightweight, giving a natural, younger look." Funds raised from this special promotion will go to the Canadian Women's Foundation to support programs across Canada that are working to end violence against women, move low-income women out of poverty and build strong, resilient girls. Click here to purchase your Face Disc now! Invest in the power of women and the dreams of girls... Halifax Girls Club Participants (published with permission from ACTUA) If you want to change the lives of women and girls across Canada donating to the Canadian Women's Foundation is the way to do it. Since 1991 we have donated more than $15 million to 825 grassroots initiatives across the country that are helping to end violence against women, move low-income women out of poverty, and build strong, resilient girls. We are connected to more than 3,000 women's organizations, and invest in the most effective approaches to creating long-term, sustainable change for women and girls in Canada. As support for the Canadian Women's Foundation increases, so does our ability to fund more initiatives, increase the capacity of women's organizations across the country, and change the lives of women and girls across Canada. |
